Canada’s Wonderland

So yesterday T and I went out to Canada’s Wonderland. That’s right, Paramount no longer owns it and their name has been stripped off. There are some pictures over on my Flickr page if you’re interested.

Downsides:
  • A number of rides had to be renamed - many of them were named after movies, in a shameless cross-promotion ploy.
  • The 3D theatre, instead of doing something cool like the James Bond or Jurassic Park (there’s that cross-promotion thing again), was playing a Spongebob Squarepants feature. Feh.
Upsides:
  • No ‘Paramount’ branding on everything.
  • Prices for most things at a reasonable level.
  • Discounted tickets from work.
  • Funnelcakes!
And, because I haven’t been in a while, there were lots of new rides to experience! Favourite: Back Lot Stuntcoaster (which used to be the Italian Job thing) - I loved the shock of it starting!

We spent the whole day working ourselves up to actually riding the Behemoth, but by the time we were ready the line was too long. Next time! We’ve promised ourselves that we’ll go early in the season next year...

Whither Bowlie?

Bowlie is gone - DavidK finally pulled the plug on August 25th, after spending ten years of his life making sure it ran like a dream and keeping us all together.

If I’m honest with myself, while I’ve been a member for four years I must admit I’ve been pretty much a lurker for the past eight months or so - but knowing it would be gone forever made me suddenly sad. I spent the last Bowlie day visiting old threads, adding to new ones and joining the massive reinstated Bowlie Chat.

The past two days have been hard, every time I let myself think about it I realize I can’t just pop on and see what’s new with everyone. But really, I can still do that, we’re all still on MSN and Flickr and Facebook and, yes, even in the real world. But I still miss it.

Ah, my far-away friends, when will I ever see you again?

Uniqlock

My latest obsession. It says Montreal because they didn't have a Toronto option. I’ve posted this with the sound off as I know how irritating automatic music can be, but I highly recommend turning it on - it’s really quite cool - by clicking on the little speaker in the bottom right corner of the dancing ladies...

If for some reason you can’t see the video or hear the music, just visit Uniqlock.
