Loose Button Luxe Box: April (plus review of some of March’s items)

Well it’s tax time, and I’m finally done, so it’s been a little big stressful today — but guess what arrived? My April Luxe Box! So I calmed back down while checking out the contents.

Standard black box design, as per usual. Since April is Canadian Cancer Society ‘Daffodil’ month, they’ve made a contribution for me, which is nice. Under the ‘Made for Heather’ sticker this month I find:
  • A daffodil pin — The kind you get for making a donation — it’s daffodil month after all!
  • A writeup card about this month’s samples, which are:
    • Essie Pink-A-Boo Nail Polish — Full size (15mL), which apparently retails for $8. Wasn’t sure what I would think of this, since I’m not really a ‘pink’ person, although it does have an interesting, almost hidden blue-pink shimmer to it, so it might be nice to layer. This was one I reserved using the ‘First In Line’ program (probably wouldn’t have if I’d known it would be pink, but that’s okay). Kinda thin, but that’s okay since I’ll probably layer it.
    • Seche Clear Crystal Clear Base Coat Nail Polish — Sample size of 3.6mL, full size of 15mL is $7. Not what the card promised (which was the Seche Ridge Filling Base Coat, which I’m quite familiar with and swear by!), haven’t tried it out yet.
    • CHI Silk Fusion — Sample size bottle is 15mL, the full size of 180mL sells for $33. No smell (or, at least, nothing that’s strong), a serum to protect your hair and make it shiny. I can always use more of that!
    • Pantene Pro-V Aqua Light Shampoo & Conditioner — Bigger than just samples, these are basically travel-size 50mL bottles (full size of 375mL are $6 each, so not all that expensive), in a little organza bag with an invitation to review them. Haven’t tried them yet though, I might wait until I have somewhere to go! It also indicates at a portion of sales will go to supporting local youth sports programs, so that’s nice.

I can’t believe it, but the DDF Advanced Firming Cream from February’s box is STILL GOING, who would have thought that tiny tube had so much in it? Given that I have seen and felt a definite difference, my earlier shyness about spending $130 on it might have been a bit hasty. Do I want to dive in? Maybe...

Meanwhile, the Shu Uemura Essence Absolue hair serum replacement (the vial from my February Luxe Box was actually cracked, which I didn’t at first notice, so at least there’s an explanation as to why it leaked out!) I received last month has also been greatly appreciated. I got four uses out of the vial (maybe five?), and I must say I was surprised — maybe it’s a stupid thing to complain about, but usually hair serum is just, well, oily and gross (to me) and to get it off my hands I have to SCRUB and SCRUB for like TEN MINUTES (even as a kid, I always hated having stuff on my hands). Not so this time, this comes off my fingers relatively quickly (still have to lather up a couple of times, but that’s fine). It’s got a strangely dry feeling to it, not oily at all, and hoo boy does it make my hair gorgeous! Totally counteracts how dry my hair has been getting!

I’m very behind in finally getting to some of these products, next I’ll finally get to the Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant and Joico K-Pak Revitaluxe conditioner from the March box

As before, if you think this is something you would like to try, please consider signing up using my link (http://luxebox.loosebutton.com/friend-sign-up?referrer=ZmFjZjJhYjQ=) and shoot me a message, so they know it’s from my recommendation. I’ve signed up for Glymm boxes as well, although I think I’m still on the waiting list as I haven’t been charged/received a box yet.
