Movies by year: 2007

So 2007 was a mixed bag - Stephen King gave us both the underrated 1408 and The Mist, Neil Gaiman brought us the delightful Stardust and the violent CGI Beowulf, the sun got jump-started in Sunshine, torsos glistened in 300, and it was goodies versus baddies in Hot Fuzz and Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. With all that seriousness (yes even Hot Fuzz), I needed a break with a good laugh.

Death At A Funeral

All our hero wants to do is pay his respects to his late father, and he's faced with an upstaging brother, an accidentally super high boyfriend, an incontinent octogenarian, a lovesick friend and an unwanted guest holding unwanted secrets. The cast is amazing (especially Alan Tudyk), the cringe factor gets a bit high, there are a lot of balls in the air but they eventually come together in a satisfying way - and if dark humor is your thing, this is made for you. Ignore the American remake, because a) why did they bother? And 2) it lacks the style of the original (though it kept Peter Dinklage).

Did you see it? What was your favourite part?
