Dark Tower

So The Dark Tower was OK. Just OK. The problem with it is that, from what people saw in the trailers, this was really a really niche film that was made for the fans of the original series. But fans of the original series would not see what they wanted in the film.

There was:
  • A tower, which was dark
  • A gunslinger
  • A boy named Jake
  • A man in black
  • A creepy house
Other than that, absolutely no similarity to Stephen King's series.

That's not to say the actors weren't good, because they were. There was originally a lot of grumbling about Idris Elba's casting, because of a plot point in the series for which his casting made no sense. But that would have been a simple small fix (just revise the reason for the other characters rage in the film) but that complaint became irrelevant given that no part of the original storyline remained, other than what I previously mentioned.

Mum would have been very disappointed.
