Movies by year: 2004

(Aim for the head - spoilers ahead!)

We're up to 2004! And what a year for film it was. Wes Anderson came back with my favourite of his (so far), The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou; M. Night Shyamalan also returned with the mixed The Village; we had a variety of heroes with Hellboy, The Incredibles and Sky Captain And The World Of Tomorrow; and Daniel Craig made dangerous waves in Layer Cake. But my favourite had a bit of everything:

Shaun Of The Dead

Simon Pegg is a man going nowhere and happy that way, until circumstances demand action. Along the way he must deal with his girlfriend, who wants more from him; his best friend, who has been holding him back his whole life; his roommate, who doesn't take kindly to the door being left open; and his stepfather, who's never been the warmest of people. Oh, and zombies, lots and lots of zombies.

There are so many fun little things in this movie. Peter Serafinowicz is one of my faves so it was wonderful to see him in here, along with Bill Nighy, you can never have too much of him. The other 'group' of survivors is basically made up of the same people. Nick Frost is the most annoying friend in the world. And when the apocalypse happens, I'm definitely heading to the local pub.

If you're scared of zombies, don't worry - this movie is hilarious. SO FUNNY. Aim for the head!

What did you think?
