Capsule post, Autumn 2012

Hrm. So.

Any of you who are familiar with my blog know that I tend to go quiet for a while and then catch up, during which time I just don't write anything at all or I write a bunch of stuff but leave it in draft purgatory. Well, the past few months has been no different - many things have been afoot, so this has had to take a back burner to the rest of life.

Let me just give you a quick rundown...

Nailene SensatioNail kit – success!

As you may recall, I finally bought the Nailene SensatioNail LED Gel Starter Kit, and a week ago I tried it out.

Okay, so I want to know exactly WHAT they are putting in the water in St Catharines. 

What a great, exhausting weekend!

Started with a tiny bit of a downer – my brothers were both playing together downtown, I had wanted to go but in the end I had to work much later than expected and just couldn’t do it, so I had to pass.

But pretty much everything else was awesome!

Love It: Shoppers Drug Mart Optimum Points

You may recall that I ran myself ragged trying to find a Wii gaming console a couple of years ago – not just the console, but for cheaper than the regular retail price. I hunted high and low but came up empty... until a coworker suggested I use my Optimum points to buy a console from Shoppers Drug Mart. Stroke of genius! And after I found a branch that had one in stock I did just that, saving myself a hefty chunk ($75 I think?).

Cottage trip 2012, huzzah!

I’m back from the cottage! I think this was my longest visit, 10 days. Totally could have stayed up later. This was a very interesting trip...

What have I been listening to lately?

I think I’m getting old.

Everything I hear on the radio sounds the same to me, so much over-hyped, over-processed pap. I occasionally hear good things on satellite radio when I visit friends, and I do get some good suggestions from a few friends, but really I prefer to listen to what I already have most days.

Or podcasts!

It began with a closet-dive — yes, I’ve decided it’s time to do a purge. I know it’s been time for a purge for a long time, but it I am both a packrat and a clotheshorse, and the two together? Well, dangerous combination. So that means I need a good solid chunk of uninterrupted time. Pulled clothes out and did laundry for two or three hours actually, pretty good. Went to bed well-rested.

Toes need to be bright!

So after bashing my toe so hard on Friday night, I thought I should freshen up my polish!

Friday the 13th at Canada’s Wonderland!

So yesterday I took the day off work to visit Canada’s Wonderland with the Boy and two of his coworkers. The forecast looked amazing (for the first time I didn’t bring a just-in-case jacket, so liberating) — so we looked forward to long long lines…

Garnet Tuesday

So it’s been really quiet at work the past week, and today was no exception – I did so many when-I-get-around-to-it projects that my task list is down to a half a page, and unfortunately most of the rest of my list of tasks is stuck in limbo, being looked at by other people, or just projects that feel like make-work. And since it’s dart night tonight I can’t really go home or do something productive before-hand, so after 5 I closed my door and did my nails.

Sorry for the delay there, took me a while to ponder the second half of the ’90s. It was a weird time for me — I managed a store, then I was jobless, then I was back in school, then I was on a new career, so my tastes were all over the place. Here are my thoughts on what was around:

Glymm Box — June 2012

Work has been relatively quiet this past week, I’ve been able to get through about half of my built-up task list (it’s usually two pages’ worth), so when our mail room let me know there was a package for me I got excited: my first Glymm box arrived today, hooray!

I’ve been raving about Luxe Box for a while now. I got my first box in February as one of three (on a three-month subscription), and while there were some hiccups I decided the pluses outweighed the minuses and signed up for another three-month subscription…

You know what really bothers me?

I’m doing a bit of a slow purge (of stuff, people, I’m not sick), and came across something that has inspired this post...

So it’s raining. Like really raining. Not in a cats-and-dogs kind of way, just in a you’ll-need-an-umbrella kind of way. But the city is grinding to a halt. Why?
